Last bass of 2012

Ok, so I made up my mind to catch a bass on New Year's Eve. I wanted to catch the last bass of 2012 and I did it. Went over to Holly Park and noticed tons of seagulls flying around one part of the water. As I got closer to my fishing destination I also noticed gar feeding on baitfish at the surface. Even though the water temps were well below 60, I tied on my white zoom trick worm Texas rigged on a 3/0 size bass hook.

I casted the worm out and fished it like any other worm but slower than usual. That's when he bit my line and I lowered my rod, reeled in the slack, and set the hook for a pretty decent fight. He was still kicking when he came out of the water.

I know everyone says the bass metabolism is slower this time of year but this fish was hungry! He even tried eating my fingers while holding him and removing the hook.

Well, here are the pictures of him and I hope everyone has a happy new year and cheers to catching even bigger bass next year!!

Cold fishing!

Went out to the lake this morning. Muddy, windy, and plain cold! Used my 1/2 oz Strike King jig with a chunk trailer and it got snagged and I lost it. Oh well, life of fishing.

Tied on a Texas rigged white zoom trick worm with no luck. The other guys out on the boat had no luck either.

Will try again another day. If you have any suggestions on baits to use in those conditions let me know. Thanks.

Hart tackle chunk rat L trap

Picked up these chunk jig trailers for my green pumpkin strike king 1/2 oz rattle jig and my 3/8 oz black blue Arkie bass jig.

I will be using them on what's left of lake lanier in the winter cold water.

Will get back to you guys on what the outcome is on my fishing experience in a couple of days.

Wasteland Lanier

Well, I used to fish here back in the spring and summer. As you may know this is where I caught some of the biggest spots and bass. Now, it's nothing more than a mud hole. The army corp of engineers has drained our precious lake to the point of no return. They once were fussing about the water level where they cleared out portions with a bulldozer for more water.

Hopefully I will be able to fish here once again but I just don't know.

Protection while fishing

Just picked up one of these a couple months ago. It's an older Rossi 38 special with wood grips.

I use it for everyday carry and protection from wild animals while fishing.

I believe everyone who is eligible should have a firearm and a carry permit.

Thanks and as always go big fishing.

Toad Produts Lures

Bass Jigs
New barrel head bass jigs from Toad Products are revolutionizing bass fishing. The barrel head isn't like other standard jigs where they look like a piece of lead with a skirt and hook. They actually have eyes that look like a real meal for the bass. Also, with the barrel head, they do not get caught up in all the muck and can be used in thick cover because they wont snag like others.

Get tired of using different head jigs for different applications? Have to tie on a grass jig for thick cover, then switch to a regular lead head for standard use. Not with these! Tie on one and your done.

They come in a vast array of colors for different clarity of water.

Testimonial from the website:

"Tim,
Please accept my congratulations on your new Barrel Head Jig. In all my 34 years in the Fishing Tackle Industry (and more years than that fishing) I have seen a lot of new lures introduced. Your Barrel Head jig is one of the most impressive new lures I have used. I have fished the Barrel Head jig in Missouri, Arkansas, Minnesota and Ontario and it delivers, as advertised, incredible performance when fishing rocks. In fact I have NOT LOST ONE Barrel Head bass jig in the rocks yet!!! The only jigs missing from the two packs I received are the ones I have given away to fishing friends. My friends agree the jig goes thru rocks where other jigs get hung up. Congratulations on developing this great new jig.
PS. I also used your Barrel Head with soft swim baits in Ontario and caught some very nice Walleye on them also.

Winter Hibernation

Hello all that have been following my blog. I have gone into some Winter hibernation with my fishing here lately. I have not been able to fish successfully with the cold water temps and freezing cold elements. I do plan to take my jig out to Lake Lanier since the water is now a heck of alot colder and clearer.

I have a black/blue bass jig I plan to use along with a pork trailer to see how that goes. Hopefully, all will be successful and I will finally be able to catch that trophy largemouth, smallmouth, or spot!

Everyone wish me luck and I will post again soon. Thanks and remember to bundle up this Winter for your fishing trips.

If you do not plan to fish this Winter season, clean your rods and reels and be sure to re-spool your line if it hasn't been done yet to get ready for the spawn coming up soon.

Fish big!
