9-Yr. Old Texas Girl: "I Caught My First Catfish with TopCat Dough Bait"

Testimonial:
The winds were out of the south about 5 to 6 miles per hour that day when my barber and her husband, their friend, his little girl Katlin, and I headed out to Elliot Bluff Boat Landing--a boat launch near the Lake Wright-Patman Dam a/k/a Texarkana Lake Dam, which is situated a few miles west of Texarkana, Texas.

It took no more than a half-hour for 9 year old Katlin of New Boston, Texas to catch her very first fish. It was a catfish which weighed approximately 2 lbs. give or take.

She caught another, but we had to let it go because it hadn't reached the legal size to keep. She was so excited as she called out to her dad, who was fishing on the other side of the boat ramp.

TopCat Premium Catfish Dough Bait is an enjoyable addition to your catfishing baits.

It's great with kids because it smells nice (the properties are similar to play dough), it has staying power and is so simple to load on small double or treble hooks. It also keeps indefinitely in the freezer when it's not in use.

It's a fantastic way in which to teach your kids, or grand kids, a NEW way to learn and enjoy the sport of catfishing.

Purchase your 4-Pk. today! When you do, you will get hooked on it, too--like so many folks already have.

Creme craw

Went fishing earlier and rigged up a Same Thing green pumpkin red flake craw on a 3/16 oz war eagle jig head.

I tossed the lure around some submerged trees and instantly caught this bass!

If you want to catch relatively big bass, rig up one of these and fish it around structure. It's best if you use a baitcaster or a spinning reel with braided line. I used a spinning reel with 100% Berkley Vanish flourocarbon.

The shakey head worm

I know I have done posts on this before but one of the best ways to catch bass, either largemouth or spotted bass, is on the shakey head rigged worm. As all of you know I fish from the banks so I don't fish like most others do from a boat letting the bait come from the shallows to the boat.

I have a few different types of shakey heads. I typically use a 3/16 oz but I also use a 1/4 at times on more finesse worms.

I either use zoom trick worms in white, green pumpkin, black, or hologram morning dawn in a roboworm for 1/4 oz.

These are my selection of shakey head hooks.

Below is my HBT Shakey Head in green pumpkin color 3/16 oz.

This is my black 1/4 oz Spot Remover brand shakey head hook. As you can see, all you have to do to rig this is press the head of the worm into the screw and then insert the hook to make the worm straight. Just as below with my Hologram Morning Dawn Roboworm.

Here is my Zoom Trick Worm in Green Pumpkin rigged up on a War Eagle 3/16 oz shakey head rig. This particular shakey head rig stands straight up so the tail sways in the current right in the bass' face.

This is my Hologram Morning Dawn Roboworm rigged on my 1/4 oz Spot Remover. I wouldn't use a 3/16 oz on this worm because the weight would not create a good presentation and it would just lie on the bottom instead of standing straight up.

New Storage for your catch

Have you ever wanted a new way to store that catch of the day without it spoiling? Well, now there is a revolutionary way to do this and save room in the freezer!

It's Vacupack. Vacupack is a vacuum sealing device that compresses and takes out all the air from  the bags in order to prevent your catch from spoiling until you can get it home from the lake or to the grill.

Any leftovers can be Vacupacked in order to keep for as long as you like!

It can be very frustrating to catch a cooler full of your favorite catch, be it freshwater or saltwater, to have it ruin by the time you get back home and try to save it.

Now you don't have to with the transportable Vacupack system. From home use to commercial, Vacupack has the vacuum packaging system unit that will benefit any situation!

Call 1-800-227-3769 or visit them at Vacupack.com for more information about this great product.

Shakey bass

This bass I caught this morning was a fighter!

I believe what happened was I hooked a bedding bass with my shakey head worm.

I have had great experience with shakey head rigs in the past so i couldn't say if that was the case or not.

My set up was a white Zoom trick worm on a black 1/4 oz Spot Remover shakey head. I used a Berkley Lightning Rod IM6 graphite with a fast action tip. Shimano Sienna 2500 FD reel with 100% Berkley Vanish flourocarbon line.

Conditions were: rising water levels from incoming rains, green to yellow tint water, clarity was about 2 feet at most, rocky and sandy flats, wind was about 9 mph from the East where it was open but about 4-5 where I was, cloudy skies with slight drizzle, forecast called for severe storms later in the day.

Check out the pics and sorry about it taking me a while to get back on here. Hopefully I'll get to post more soon and do some reviews and tips. Thanks again!

Braided line basics

Braid is a great line. It gives you the ability to cast farther, has awesome sensitivity, and great strength. It also has drawbacks such as people complaining about line digging into itself, back lashing, and missing fish. This can all be solved by setting your drag LOWER! Yes, braid has no stretch so the drag is set lower so when you hook a fish, it doesn't dig into itself which will cause a terrible backlash the next time you cast. Also, it will help you not rip the hook from the fishes mouth.

Mono is a line that has alot more stretch than anglers realize and when you set that hook, you have to really set it and with braid a minor sweep set is all that's in order unless you have to pull a bass out of the trees.

Hope this helps.
