Christmas Eve Bass

Well, its finally here....yep, Christmas!  I went fishing this morning.  Weather conditions were terrible. Air temps were 50, has been raining for days, and very cloudy as you can see from the pictures.

Water conditions were as usual this time of year...clear and low 50s.

Fishing off a dock with one of the RC STX jerk baits that go 4-6 ft. Its a great suspending model with loud rattles to attract bass. I was using a popular baitfish color that bass hate/love...whichever you prefer. It is herring bone chartreuse.  Mixture of blueback herring with chartreuse on the bottom. These things cast great on light line and spinning tackle. Was using my Berkley lightning rod with 8 lb test Trilene on a shimano 2500 reel. This rod and reel has brought me in more fish than any other combo I've ever had.

Merry Christmas and enjoy the pictures!

Cold water, hot bite!

With water temps in the 50s and air temps in the 30s, who wants to get out and fish? Better think again!

Winter is the best time to catch big bass as long as you are patient enough and fish slow enough.  Caught these 2 bass within minutes of each other in a ditch using a 3/8 oz scrounger jig head with a white ice zoom fluke slow rolling it as slow as I could.

Remember to bundle up when going out because its cold out there but the bite is still hot!

Its Fall

So, I have been fishing when I get the chance between school, clinicals, and work. It seems like the water has been turning over forever lately but the topwater bite is pretty good, at least for the spotted bass (not the stripers yet!).

I was using a Zara spook in blue shad color in 70 degree water temp on the chattahoochee river trying to get the stripers to blow up on it and caught this little spotted bass! Conditions were a little windy (its fall) and air temp was in the 50s.

I will keep you Informed of my fishing situation,  stay tuned!

School and fishing

Hey guys. Sorry I've been away again for a while. Im currently working on my ASRT which is an associates of science in respiratory therapy.

Been working a lot of overtime too.

In regards to fishing I've been a few times since Fall started but no bites!

Using spooks and spinner baits in the windy conditions but no luck.  Can't wait until striper season in a little while when they come up and start hitting topwater.

Ill post more pictures of the fish when I catch them.

Hello again!

Well its been a while but I've been doing some summertime fishing. A good bit of my bites have been from frogs as I am experimenting with those right now. Check out the pictures! Mostly been working and studying for school.  Currently in respiratory therapy school so haven't had much time to fish like I would love to. Its okay though I can fish later when I get out of school. Enjoy!

Biggest bass of 2014

One evening a few days ago I was casting a Rebel Magnum Pop R in Sexy Shad. The magnum poppers are closer to the bigger shad that are swimming around right now in the shallows. Water temps are in the high 60s so topwater is a must!

This bass weighed about 6 lbs. It was a thrill reeling it in.

Bass of 2014

So I have been bass fishing for prespawn bass and nothing seems to be biting at all.

I caught 1 bass on a bass pro shop jerkbait in xxx shad color. I caught another on a small white marabou jig under a bobber in 1/8 oz.

Water temps were in the low 50s both times. I have attempted topwater with no luck even after the warm weather has brought water temps up. Will continue to update as things get better.

First Striper

Caught my first striper yesterday morning. I havent posted in a while and I do apologize to my followers and readers. I've been kind of busy with life.

Anyway I finally snagged a small striper in lake lanier. While fishing for crappie using the multi colored 1/16 oz jig               ( pictured below ) under a pear bobber at 3 ft a striper grabbed it. Water temps are in the 50s and air temps were in the 50s also that morning with wind in all directions.

Crappie Ready

Crappie fishing is some of the best panfish to catch and eat!

My setup for crappie is a Daiwa Laguna spinning reel spooled up with Crappie Max 6 lb camouflage line on a Daiwa Laguna soft tip rod. The soft tip keeps pressure from pulling the hooks from the crappie's paper mouth.

Some of the brands of lures and jigs I use are pictured below. I've found the best sizes are 1/16 and lower for crappie. Color of lures and jig heads depend on water clarity and depth.

Sliders are in white/chartreuse a very effective color.

These white spoiler shad made by Creme are effective on crappie as well as other predatory fish such as largemouth and spotted bass so be aware.

Another brand that already comes with jig heads are the Uncle Bucks brand.

Taurus TCP

My new concealed carry, the Taurus TCP.

This small gun is a great pocket pistol chambered in 380 ACP. I picked it up and loaded it with Hydrashok Federal Hollowpoints. It's great for the person with small hands and wants a gun to carry concealed all the time. It weighs about 11 oz loaded and 8.2 oz unloaded.

It's a Double Action Only with a long trigger pull. With the regular magazine I could only get my middle and ring finger around the grip.

I added a Pearce mag extension and got a much better grip without sacraficing concealement.

For a great economical firearm with a lifetime warranty, pick up a Taurus.

Striper fishing update

Went striper fishing yesterday morning and hooked up my first striper ever!

It took a lot of line from my reel but I knew it was a striper because of how it bent my rod tip all the way to the breaking point.

I was using a clear a just a bobber placed 3 feet from the lure which was a white 1/8 oz marabou jig.

He bent the hook a little and got off. I will keep you updated on when I get one reeled in.

Big Spot

Again out fishing around the diving seagulls at Holly Park for striper using my 3/8 oz bucktail. I picked up a few small thread fin shad on my lure so I knew I was in the school of baitfish.

I casted the bucktail out and started slow rolling it back with water temps in the high 40s and low 50s around lots of rock and deeper water I picked up a big spotted bass this morning. Check him out, he's been eating good!
