About the Author

This collection of sea stories relates the experiences of the author, then a very young man, who left family and friends to live out his earliest childhood dreams of life on the water. A native Galvestonian, he was born into a seafaring community where fishing and boats of any kind were his dream and his passion.

While he ultimately tested for and received his open ocean captain's license, he did not attend a maritime school or the Naval Academy. In seafaring terms, "He came up through the hawse pipe" by working his way from deck hand to a captain's ticket the hard way.
